Hey everybody! We've spent the last few weeks just sitting around - literally - since our triathlon, but now it's time to get in gear. What's new?
- The NYC Marathon is coming up in November... it's coming too fast! We plan to run this as a long run and enjoy the scenery, rather than racing it.
- We are getting eaten alive as we're trying to plan everything for NIRCA Regionals & Nationals (Charlotte, NC).
- This week I earned an internal promotion at work -- woot!
- Jasmine & Jose Carlos got married officially last weekend... the big party's coming up NEXT WEEK.
- Annnnd... I just launched a new website for posting race reports!
It's called My Race My Story, at www.MyRaceMyStory.com.
[warning: shameless plug ahead]
So, if we're friends on Facebook, I am trying not to be an over-poster. I'll shamelessly promote My Race, My Story on my personal account for some time until I can get enough fans to Like my site's FB page. (And then I'll stop being so post-happy in your news feed!)

What's a race report? It's a personal account of how your race went. Everybody sees, hears, and experiences different things over the course of a race, and it's important to capture all of that! I also like the idea of sharing race reports because they're good for helping someone who's on the fence decide whether it's worth signing up next year. As an example, before we signed up for Rev3 Cedar Point, Ben went looking for blogs and race reports online to make sure that others had had a good experience and had positive things to say about the race or how it was organized.
I started My Race My Story because race reports are so hot right now! Just kidding -- in Btown, at least, everyone's racing in marathons, triathlons, 5ks, etc. and putting their race reports up on Facebook, in their personal blogs, on Running2Win, and elsewhere. By creating a central location for these stories, it's like free inspiration! I've just posted a few stories about Andrea's 5k, Larry's Ironman, and Craig's 40k trail race. I laughed really hard when I read Gretchen's post. (Gretchen is Rachel's daughter, the most hilarious and awesome 9-year-old kid I have ever met) Everybody's style's a little different, so I really enjoy picking up on that as well -- I'm looking forward to the day when someone sends me a series of photos, a podcast, an interview, or a web video! (not that I don't enjoy the traditional format)
Not only is it insanely motivating to read about someone's huge accomplishment, but it's also a good way to learn about the more non-traditional activities. I'm encouraging all types of athletes to participate, like swimmers, runners, cyclists, and triathletes. My friend Sarah has been winning a ton of cyclocross bike races in the past few weeks, and to be honest, I have no clue what cyclocross even is! She's promised to enlighten us and show us lots of pictures.
So now that you know what the site is all about, won't you Like me on Facebook and send me your race report next time you get out there?
